Ghost Shooter Game Feedback

https://gage3981.itch.io/ghost-shooter-20

Summary

  • Ghost shooter? what is it? Well, in the game ghost shooter is you the character fighting aliens to get points. these monsters are genetically modified by dr. carpenter. it is your job to take them out!!! There is no winning you just wanna beat your old score. This is a shooter game and very fun

Questions

  • would new monsters be cool, what needs to be changed
  • if the background was one and the key binds were changed would it be better

Peer Feedback

  • For the background, I think that is cool and unique and people should like its uniqueness and all but it’s too unfitting. And I noticed that the score is for the number of guns you shoot and not the number of enemies you defeat. Also maybe you should increase the speed of the monsters as the play gets more into the game.
  • increase the layout size
  • New monsters would be cool, more hp to the monsters would make it more challenging, the background is cool but it looks weird since it’s repeating, and I think it would be easier if the key binds were to WASD
  • new monsters would add a good challenge for the player with more health
  • Oh and I just noticed that the bullets hit enemies, not in the frame so maybe make it so only enemies in the frame can get killed

Game Play Analysis

Formal Elements
The Basicsa online pvp game
Name of the gamevalorant
The platformpcs
Time played (should be at least 30 minutes)2 hours
If you could work on this game (change it), what would you change and why?i would make unlocking a new character faster
PlayersNOTES
How many players are supported?1
Does it need to be an exact number?
How does this affect play?
Some types of player frameworks:Single Player – like Solitare.Head-to-head – 1 vs. 1, Chess.PvE – Player vs. Environment, or multiple players vs. the game. Common in MMOs like World of Warcraft. One against Many – Single-player vs. multiple (obvy).Free-for-all – Every man for himself (1 vs. 1 vs. 1 vs. 1..). Most common for multiplayer games, from Monopoly to Modern Warfare.Individuals Against the System – Like Blackjack, where the Dealer is playing against multiple players, but those players have no effect on each other.Team Competition – Multiple vs. multiple, i.e. sports.Predator-prey – Players form a circle and everyone’s goal is to attack the player on their left and defend themselves from the player on their right.Five-pointed Star – Eliminate both players who are not on either side of you.
Objectives/GoalsNOTES
What are the players trying to do?they are trying to plant the spike and win each win is a point and you need 13 to win.
Some common objectives include:Capture/Destroy – Eliminate all your opponents pieces (Chess).Territorial Acquisition – Control as much territory as you can, not necessarily harming other players (RISK).Collection – Collect a certain number of objects throughout the game (Pokemon).Solve – Solve a puzzle or crime (Clue).Chase/race/escape – Anything where you are running towards or away from something (playground game Tag).Spatial Alignment – Anything involving the positioning of elements (Tetris or Tic-Tac-Toe or that game at Cracker Barrel).Build – Advance your characters or build your resources to a certain point (The Sims).Negation of another goal – The game ends if you perform an act that is forbidden by the rules (Jenga or Twister).
Rules/Mechanicsno cussing, being rude, afk, trying to lose
There are three categories of (what the book Rules of Play calls) operational rules:Setup – the things you do at the beginning of a game.Progression of Play – what happens during the game.Resolution – How an outcome is determined based on the game state.the setup is the buying phase this is where you spend your money that you got from kills
ControlsNOTES
What controls are used?w,a,s,d,q,e,c,x,z,t,1,2,3,4,right click,left click,scroll,tab,caps
Was there a clear introductory tutorial?yes
Were they easy to understand or did you find yourself spamming the controller?no i didn’t
Resources & Resource ManagementNOTES
What kinds of resources do players control?aim, walk, powers, jump, etc.
How are they maintained during play?by using your controls
What is their role?the basics to help you win
A resource is everything under the control of a single player. Could be the money in Monopoly or health in WoW. Other examples are:Territory in RISK The number of questions remaining in 20 Questions Objects picked up during videogames (guns, health packs, etc.)Time (game time, real-time, or both)Known information (like suspects in Clue)something you controls is your money and ability’s
Game StateNOTES
How much information in the game state is visible to the player?they have patch notes with every update and help bar in settings so good i would say
A snapshot of the game at a single point is the game state. The resources you have, the un-owned properties in Monopoly, your opponent’s Archery skill all count towards the game state. Some example information structures are:Total Information – Nothing is hidden, like Chess.Info per player – Your hand of cards is only visible to you.One player has privileged info – Like a Dungeon Master. The game hides info from all players – Like Clue, where no one knows the victory condition.Fog of War – In video games, where certain sections of the map are concealed if you do not have a unit in sight range of that area. You also cannot see other players’ screens, so each player is unaware of the other’s information.
SequencingNOTES
In what order do players take their actions?when buy phase is over thats when you go
How does play flow from one action to another?very smooth nothing doesn’t make sense i guess you could say everything flows (get it)
Some structures include:Turn-based – Standard board game technique.Turn-based with simultaneous play – where everyone takes their turn at the same time (like writing something down or putting a card down in War).Real-time – Actions happen as fast as players can make them. Action-based video games.Turn-based and time limits – You have this long to take your turn.
Player Interaction
Some examples:Direct Conflict – I attack you.Negotiation – If you support me here, I’ll help you there.Trading – I’ll give you this for that.Information Sharing – If you go there, I’m warning you, a trap will go off.there is a lot of this in the game
Theme & NarrativeNOTES
Does it have an actual story structure?no
Is it based on a historical event (or similar)?no
Does the theme or narrative help you know how to play?not really
Does it have emotional impacts?no
Also, look for en media res (does it start in the middle of the game)?no
The Elements in MotionNOTES
How do the different elements interact? it runs very good
What is the gameplay like?very fun to me and fun to everyone
Is it effective?
Are there any points where the design choices break down?in some corners or when you use a spray it glitches
Design CritiqueNOTES
Why did the designer make these particular choices?to give you the valorant effect
Why this set of resources?because it was different
What if they made different decisions?still be fun i would still play
Does the design break down at any point?some skins glitch the face off
Graphics & SoundNOTES
Does the game art pair well with the mechanics?yes
Did you find any bugs or glitches?yes
What about sound?very good a very helpful thing in this game
Can you spot any technical shortcuts?no
Various Stages of the GameNOTES
To wrap up, some things to keep in mind (as if there aren’t enough already) as you play:
What challenges do you face, and how do you overcome them?aim for the head because chest and legs dont do as much damage but when you hit the head does so much damage
Is the game fair?yes you just gotta work to get better
Is it replayable? Are there multiple paths to victory or optional rules that can change the experience?its a pvp with no story line so you can play as much as you like
What is the intended audience?16+
What is the core, the one thing you do over and over, and is it fun?try to get to 13 yes especially when you are top of you’re leader board

Reflection

When ever you are stressed or scared there is always a calm. Nothing ever comes easy you have to do it for hours. It doesn’t matter if your uncomfortable when you get good, it will be powerful. Focus on your work enough with giving yourself extensions. a lot of well known people didn’t have a week they had 24 hours. So get it done ans stop saying you will later.

CLASSROOM (THEORY & ANALYSIS)

  • Your first game should always be small because no one starts off super good. you want to test it and fix the bugs you encounter because you will encounter some. you want it to be engaging not seeming like it would it NEEDS to be for it to be successful. Also don’t make the game to complex make it fun.

  • The Shooter: will be you going against an object of some type when you can move around the map. you can do missions bounties but you will also be hunted. nowhere is safe. The adventure one: will be you going around the screen finding passages collecting treasure and scrolls. Puzzle: puzzle one is you going through a maze being chased by the blob if it hits you your gonna have to restart. so don’t take the wrong turn. SciFi: in this game, you will be in a ship collecting rocks, meteors and scanning planets, not anything scary just a chill game, Freeplay: would kinda be like sims it’s just you living a normal life. battle royale: you have powers only and you are put into a match if you come out alive and the only one left you to win.
